A COVID outbreak canceled the Ole Miss Rebels’ matchup with the Texas A&M Aggies this past weekend. Still, the story is how this team has had a solid first year under former Tennessee football head coach Lane Kiffin, and they have been fun to watch offensively throughout.

Ole Miss is No. 9 in our SEC Power Rankings because they do have four wins, and one of them is over the Kentucky Wildcats. However, the other three are over the three worst teams in the SEC: the Vanderbilt Commodores, South Carolina Gamecocks and Mississippi State Bulldogs. Similar to UK, they have somewhat cashed in on an easy schedule.

Still, a win over a four-win team counts for something, and given what Kiffin was able to do his first year in Oxford, Miss. amidst all the craziness, the program has a lot to look forward to. Also, we should point out the season isn’t over.

That cancelation assures Ole Miss will only play nine regular season games, but their final matchup is with the LSU Tigers. They could pull off an upset there, and a winning record is on the line. Such an accomplishment would be amazing for Kiffin’s first season on the job.
