Tennessee football: Top five Vols performers in 34-13 loss to Aggies
1 catch for 33 yards; 1 TD
Just like one play can result in you getting blamed for a loss, it can also result in you getting a shoutout for your performance. Tight end Jacob Warren is one of those cases where he happened to make this list for one play, but that one play was a major spark for Tennessee football early on in the game.
Warren was wide open on the Vols’ first drive and caught a pass from Harrison Bailey that he took 33 yards for a touchdown. That was part of a great drive which could have landed Bailey, who completed all six of his attempts on the day, on this list.
However, Bailey’s mistakes in holding onto the ball too long, resulting in three sacks, two fumbles and one lost fumble, forced us to knock him off this list. That opened a spot for the offensive weapon who got Bailey his first touchdown pass.
Well, given the fact that Warren was the one who got it, we decided to put him on the list. His touchdown was largely due to a great play-call by Jim Chaney, but he was the one who ran it into the end zone for the score. Maybe that’s a hint of some future success from him.
