8. Jalen Johnson, Jazmine Massengill and Zaay Green transfer

One was not surprising, but two were. Tennessee basketball guard Jalen Johnson was in the same recruiting class as Grant Williams, Jordan Bowden, Jordan Bone and Kyle Alexander. He also had a three-star rating, just like they did. However, he never saw the same amount of action.

As a result, with a top five recruiting class made up of five-star guards coming in and the return of Josiah-Jordan James, Johnson made the smart decision to transfer. The 6’6″ 196-pound graduate transfer joined the Wake Forest Demon Deacons back in his home state of North Carolina.

On the women’s side, however, things were more shocking. Guard Zaay Green suffered a season-ending injury two games into last year, but she was a rising superstar and figured to take a larger role. Jazmine Massengill started most of the year in her place. She then transferred to the Kentucky Wildcats at the end of the year, but with Green coming back, that wasn’t shocking.

However, a day later, Green decided to transfer as well. She is now with the Texas A&M Aggies. You have to wonder what happened there, as she cited “actions and decisions” as her reason for transferring. It seemed one would stay if another transferred. Either way, Jordan Horston became the key combo guard for the Kellie Harper’s team after this news, a role she still holds.
