Undergraduates who have found new transfer destination

Jarious Abercrombie – Illinois State Redbirds

  • Offensive lineman
  • 6’4″ 310 pounds
  • Birmingham, Ala.

Nyles Gaddy – Jackson State Tigers

  • Linebacker
  • 6’4″ 231 pounds
  • Nashville, Tenn.

Ethan Rinke – South Alabama Jaguars

  • Linebacker
  • 6’3″ 264 pounds
  • Athens, Ala.

J.T. Shrout – Colorado Buffaloes

  • Quarterback
  • 6’3″ 213 pounds
  • Santa Clarita, Calif.

The standout here is J.T. Shrout. After Jarrett Guarantano was benched, Shrout was splitting time with Harrison Bailey in the final three games. However, with Kaidon Salter about to arrive, it made sense that he would transfer. He announced he was leaving on Twitter on Dec. 22 and then revealed his destination on Dec. 27.

Outside of Shrout, the other guys were at initially walk-ons. As a result, none of them have a significant impact on the depth chart and the intrigue of this upcoming offseason the way Shrout would have. However, that doesn’t mean their decisions aren’t newsworthy.

Nyles Gaddy announced his decision to transfer and that he would join Deion Sanders’ program on the same day all in one tweet on Nov 7. Ethan Rinke announced his transfer on Twitter on Oct. 11 and revealed his destination on Nov. 11. Jarious Abercrombie transferred and landed at ISU before the season even started, reported on by Blake Toppmeyer of the Knoxville News Sentinel.
