Just two days after Geno Auriemma surpassed Pat Summitt on the all-time wins list, the Tennessee Lady Vols and UConn Huskies will add another chapter to this storied series. They will face off in Knoxville for the first time in 15 years.

This is the second game of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Revival Series, which began last year, when these two teams, once arch-rivals, faced off for the first time since 2007. UConn last season’s matchup 60-45.

UT comes into this matchup ranked No. 25 in the AP Poll and one spot out of the Coaches Poll. The Huskies come in ranked No. 3 in the AP Poll and No. 5 in the Coaches Poll. Here is all the information you need for the Tennessee Lady Vols’ matchup.

Last week, Rocky Top entered the rankings for the first time all season. However, they then suffered a 67-66 heartbreaking loss to the Georgia Lady Bulldogs, who are now No. 22 in the AP Poll and No. 23 in the Coaches Poll. A blowout win at the Alabama Crimson Tide Sunday salvaged things a bit, but it didn’t save Kellie Harper’s team in terms of staying in the Coaches Poll.

UConn is in an odd situation. Auriemma’s senior class last year became the first group to not win a national title in four years there since the class of 2008, ironically UT’s last national championship. Of course, that was due to the pandemic, which shut down the NCAA Tournament.

This year, he has had to replace three starters, but he appears to be doing fine. One of those starters, by the way, is Evina Westbrook, who was the Lady Vols’ starting point guard just two years ago before transferring.

Although there was some bad blood between Summitt and Auriemma, as Summitt discontinued the series because of issues with his recruiting practices, it was great for everybody to see this rivalry restored. The Tennessee Lady Vols fell significantly behind the Huskies while it was dormant. They are now trying to reverse course, and an upset here could help in a big way.
