2. Elite promoter

Part of Danny White being a bit younger is that he will know how to market and promote the Tennessee Vols in the 21st century. That’s not to ignore the longstanding traditions, including Rocky Top, the Vol Walk and Running Through the T, but it is to say you can’t rest on those laurels to continue to generate buzz into the future.

White has proven himself to be great at promoting his universities. If you want proof, all you have to do is look at what he did when the UCF Knights went 13-0 in 2017 and beat the Auburn Tigers in the Peach Bowl but missed the College Football Playoff.

After that win, White declared the UCF Knights national champions, and the program’s official Twitter account released a video of it. White then stuck it to the NCAA by giving out raises, holding a parade, hanging a banner and handed out rings, ignoring all the backlash that came with it and truly putting the program even more on the map.

Things like this are what UT needs. To be fair, Mike Hamilton tried that with Lane Kiffin’s brashness over a decade ago, but White would be much smarter with it. Don’t underestimate how savage he can be when he’s on Rocky Top.
