Coming off an embarrassing loss to the Florida Gators, Tennessee basketball will try to right the ship by completing a sweep of one of the upper-echelon teams in the SEC. In the process, Rick Barnes’ team will try to regain some respect after such a humiliation on Tuesday.

Ranked No. 6 in both polls with a 10-2 overall record and 4-2 SEC record, UT lost 75-49 at UF on Tuesday. Now, they are back home and hosting the Missouri Tigers, who are ranked No. 19 in both polls. Mizzou lost to Rocky Top 73-53 in Columbia, Mo. the last time these two teams met back on Dec. 30, when the Vols were still undefeated on the year.

Led by former Vol head coach Cuonzo Martin, the Tigers, who are 9-2 and 4-2 in the SEC, have only lost one game since then, falling to the Mississippi State Bulldogs back on Jan. 5. Here is all the information you need for Tennessee basketball’s Saturday matchup.

With two recent dominant wins over the South Carolina Gamecocks and Texas A&M Aggies, Missouri is starting to get on a hot streak, which should concern Barnes and co. given the show they put on in Gainesville, Fla. Tuesday. They definitely need a better performance at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tenn. Saturday.

Led by Zavier Pinson, the Tigers have four players averaging double figures and three averaging 12 points or more a game. Although they only go eight-deep on a consistent basis, any of those eight guys could be a threat on any given night.

On UT’s side, freshman Jaden Springer has been day to day and didn’t play against UF. The Vols are 0-2 without him on the court and undefeated with him on the court, so his presence is a big deal. However, there are lots of things they have to correct from Tuesday.

After this game, Tennessee basketball will host the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Tuesday. Mizzou will visit the Auburn Tigers that same night. Those games will be tests for both teams, making this game crucial for each of them.
