There’s never a dull moment in the world of Tennessee Volunteer fandom. Some of the biggest names in sports today have ties to the Tennessee football program, and through the powers of social media, everyone is connected.

On Friday night, Alvin Kamara, the most notable UT alumnus currently in the NFL, stoked the fire and reached out to the newest member of UT’s athletic department.” Congrats!” Kamara said in a message to Danny White via his Twitter account. “Holla at me, I got a few ideas.”

While on Rocky Top, Kamara ran for 1,294 yards, caught for 683 yards and found the end zone 23 times from 2015-2016. Though he spent the majority of his career at UT running behind Jalen Hurd under the discretion of Butch Jones, The New Orleans Saints selected Kamara in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Norcross, Ga. native hasn’t minced words about his former Tennessee football coach, so it’s not ridiculous to think he has some viable input for White’s coaching search. He’s not one to be too quiet about things.

Kamara also had something to say when Tennessee football fired Jeremy Pruitt. He hilariously asked his social media followers to photoshop him in Neyland Stadium with a coach’s headset on. Vol Twitter did not disappoint.

Whether or not White saw Kamara’s tweet and actually reached out to the former Vol running back is unknown. However, the new AD did make a pretty important statement regarding the coaching search set to take place in Knoxville.

According to Jimmy Hyams of WNML radio, White is planning to hire a search firm to assist him in finding the next signal-caller for Rocky Top. The hope is, an outside firm will give him and his staff the privacy needed to conduct a thorough search.

A water-tight coaching search is probably best for the future of the Tennessee football program – especially in today’s day and age where everything finds its way onto social media. Keeping rumors and information leaks out of the hands of the public is the professional and proper way to make your first coaching hire with a new school.
