After splitting last week’s games, losing at the Ole Miss Rebels but beating the Kentucky Wildcats, Tennessee basketball returns to the court Wednesday. They come in having dropped five spots in both the AP and Coaches Polls, to No. 16 and No. 15 respectively.

The Georgia Bulldogs head to Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tenn. for a nationally televised SEC matchup Wednesday. This is a replacement game after UT’s matchup with the Florida Gators and the Dawgs’ matchup with the Texas A&M Aggies were both postponed due to outbreaks within UF and A&M.

UGA is currently on a three-game winning streak and held off the Vanderbilt Commodores for a 73-70 win over the weekend. Here is all the information you need for Tennessee basketball’s matchup on Rocky Top.

Led by third-year head coach Tom Crean, Georgia has done a remarkable job improving off last year’s 16-16 season despite losing three starters, including current NBA guard Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves. It’s been a combination of guys improving and multiple new contributors being added.

Returning contributors Sahvir Wheeler and Toumani Camara have been the major stars as the team’s leading scorers. Freshman K.D. Johnson along with graduate transfers Andrew Garcia, P.J. Horne and Justin Kier are all averaging nine to 12 points a game. Tye Fagan, who came off the bench last year, has emerged as a starter and is averaging just under 10 points a game.

These seven players make for a massive upgrade from over a year ago despite losing Edwards, and they have allowed Crean’s team to truly gel. Because of that, the Vols have to know they’ll have their hands full Wednesday.

Up next for Tennessee basketball after this matchup will be another intriguing test, as they visit the LSU Tigers Saturday afternoon. Things will stay hard for Georgia, who has to visit the No. 11 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide Saturday and then host the No. 10 ranked Missouri Tigers next Tuesday. This is a make or break stretch for them.
