Just like on Tuesday, the Tennessee Vols news is relatively quiet when it comes to the football program. Josh Heupel is obviously putting a staff, and many names have been reported on, but nothing is yet confirmed by the university. Two weeks after his hiring and a week after National Signing Day, that’s a bit surprising.

However, we have other things to cover beyond the football program. As the Tennessee Vols men’s basketball program gets set to host the Georgia Bulldogs at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2, our morning update on Rocky Top leads with basketball news. Beyond that mention, though, our focus is actually on the women’s program.

Yes, the Lady Vols had lots of news on Tuesday in terms of rankings and Kellie Harper speaking. That’s not the only Tennessee Vols women’s sport either. Women’s golf and an honor for a women’s track and field athlete all made our list of stories to cover. Let’s start, though, with the women’s basketball news of the day.

Kellie Harper addresses media – Maria M. Cornelius, GoVols247

After a second week off during the middle of SEC season due to a COVID outbreak, the Tennessee Lady Vols have the Kentucky Wildcats and Texas A&M Aggies on the road this week. They are now ranked No. 16 in the AP Poll, No. 19 in the Coaches Poll, No. 14 in the NET Rankings and No. 25 in the RPI. Here’s a bit of what Kellie Harper said about the pause in her Tuesday media session.

"“This pause felt a little different because of the timing. Our first one was coming back from Christmas. We’d been off for Christmas break and then came back and had a pause, so it felt very different. Conditioning was a huge priority for us (then). We’re in a different space now, so in terms of getting them in shape, we just wanted to maintain.”"

Women’s golf finishes top 10 at Heroes Ladies Intercollegiate – UTSports

On Tuesday, the Tennessee Lady Vols golf program finished No. 9 at the Heroes Ladies Intercollegiate tournament, hosted by the Purdue Boilermakers in Sarasota, Fla. and lasting three days. Junior Mikayla Bardwell was the star of the program.

"Bardwell recorded her third straight top-10 performance, finishing the tournament in a tie for seventh place. She opened the day with three consecutive birdies, tallying four more throughout the afternoon. Her round three score of -5 (67) marked the second-lowest score of her Tennessee career."

SEC recognizes track and field star Hannah Jefcoat – SECSports

Coming off a standout performance this past weekend, Tennessee women’s track and field senior Hannah Jefcoat was named the SEC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. This is the first weekly SEC honor of her career.

"Tennessee’s Hannah Jefcoat broke her own all-time Lady Vol record in the pole vault Saturday afternoon, clearing a personal-best height of 4.34 meters (14-2.75) at Virginia Tech’s Doc Hale Elite Meet. Jefcoat’s performance currently ranks No. 6 in the NCAA this season and third in the SEC."
