Tennessee football: 10 must-have 2022 in-state football prospects
7. Isaiah Horton – Wide Receiver
Hometown: Murfreesboro, Tenn. (Oakland High School)
We’re onto our second wide receiver, but we move from West Tennessee to Middle Tennessee for this one. Four-star Isaiah Horton is currently rated as the No. 283 overall player in the 2022 recruiting cycle. In his junior year last season with Oakland High School, Horton caught 34 passes for 643 yards and seven touchdowns.
The versatile athlete also plays for Oakland’s baseball and basketball teams, so he clearly brings a lot of potential to the table. Tennessee football’s receiver room is young as it is, but by the time Horton and other 2022 wideouts enroll in classes, Jalin Hyatt and Malachi Wideman will already be upperclassmen. As a result, Horton is another important prospect.
If the potential and upside of Horton and Cameron Miller is an indication of anything, it’s that fans and coaches should want talented receivers running routes alongside UT’s glimmers of hope from the 2020 season.
Keep an eye on the 6’3″ 190-pound prospect as recruiting starts to heat up. Murfreesboro has been a great place for UT to find elite playmakers at receiver in the past as well. Don’t forget that Jauan Jennings came out of that city in 2015.
