6. Dallan Hayden – Running Back

Hometown: Memphis, Tenn. (Christian Brothers Academy)

We’re back to Memphis and another legacy kid. Dallan Hayden, out of Christian Brothers Academy in Memphis, Tenn., is a special player. He is so special in fact, that he was one of the first recruits Josh Heupel reached out to when he got the Tennessee football head coaching job on Jan. 27.

The son of former UT running back and San Diego Charger Aaron Hayden, Dallan Hayden holds offers from just about every top power-five program in the country. On Jan. 1, the four-star back announced his top-four on his Twitter account, which included the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks along with the Vols.

The 5’11” 190-pound playmaker ran for over 2,000 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2020, earning him the Division II-AAA Mr. Football award in 2020, the same honor Eric Gray won thrice. Don’t forget that Gray also came out of a private school in Memphis, committing as a four-star from Lausanne Collegiate School back in 2019.

Hayden also earned second-team Max Preps All-American honors and the Max Preps Player of the Year in Tennessee for his junior season. He has a chance to live up to his father’s legacy on Rocky Top. Heupel needs to make sure he heads there.
