5. Barion Brown – Wide Receiver/Defensive Back

Hometown: Nashville, Tenn. (Pearl-Cohn High School)

We’re finally looking at a Nashville guy on this list. One of the more explosive players in Tennessee football’s 2022 recruiting class, Barion Brown was elite on both sides of the ball for Pearl-Cohn High School in 2020.

The speed and decisiveness he shows while carrying the ball in space make him a player that would excel in Josh Heupel’s offense. He’s currently a four-star prospect listed as the No. 13 athlete nationally and No. 247 player overall.

At 6’1″ 175-pound, the athlete currently holds 23 offers from FBS programs, earning four of those offers from Jan. 25-29 alone. The only SEC teams that haven’t offered him are the Florida Gators and Vanderbilt Commodores.

Brown is the type of player who fits exactly what Heupel is expected to bring to Knoxville. If you haven’t watched his tape yet, do yourself a favor – the crowd that values offers and game-film over stars and ratings will absolutely love this kid.

We’ve discussed what the Vols will look like at receiver by the time 2022 comes around, but Brown could be as valuable as a defensive back. Alontae Taylor, Shawn Shamburger and Trevon Flowers will all be gone after 2021.
