Tennessee football: 10 must-have 2022 in-state football prospects
3. Keaton Wade – Outside Linebacker
Hometown: Spring Hill, Tenn. (Summit High School)
Listed as the No. 17 outside linebacker in the country, Keaton Wade is freakishly athletic for a 6’4″ 210-pound high school junior. In 2020, he took a significant number of snaps on the offensive side of the ball as a running back and also played for Summit High School’s basketball team in the winter. He’s got a lot of star power with those abilities.
The outside linebacker position is constantly evolving in college football, but Wade’s height and agility will allow him to sit beyond the defensive line and contain backfields or rush the edge when called upon. Obviously, his role would depend on the Vols defensive scheme, which will look very different from what Jeremy Pruitt and Derrick Ansley ran.
Wade’s twin brother, Destin, also holds an offer from the Vols as an incoming senior at Summit High School. He currently stands as the No. 11 dual-threat quarterback in the country and is a name to watch if some of the other names on this list don’t pan out.
Just recently, Destin Wade revealed that the Vols were in his top nine on Twitter. Keaton Wade, however, left the Vols off his top nine on Twitter, so Heupel and co. have some work to do if they are going to lure him to Rocky Top.
