8. Erriyon Knighton

WR; Tampa, Fla.

On paper, Tennessee football doesn’t need another wide receiver. Even with the departures of Josh Palmer and Brandon Johnson, the Vols are loaded with young guys, including Ramel Keyton, Jalin Hyatt, Malachi Wideman, Jimmy Calloway, Julian Nixon and Walker Merrill. Josh Heupel and Kodi Burns have plenty of talent over the next three years.

However, you should always try to build up your wide receiver depth, especially when you run a tempo-based system the way Heupel does. Securing a commitment from Erriyon Knighton, a four-star across the board, out of Hillsborough High School in the Tampa Bay area of Florida would be a huge get for these guys.

Right now, the only official prediction for Knighton is that one person on the 247Sports Crystal Ball has him joining the Florida Gators, but his confidence level is low on that. Because of that, we still have him as very much in play.

Standing somewhere between 6’0″ and 6’3″ and weighing somewhere between 160 and 170 pounds, he could immediately fill a void on Rocky Top. Heupel’s time with the UCF Knights gives him a direct connection to players like Knighton. That makes him a gettable prospect as well.
