Less than two days after releasing a key in-state offensive lineman in its 2021 class from his National Letter of Intent, Tennessee football got some decent news in its pursuit of a 2022 offensive lineman out of Arkansas. However, it didn’t offset the bad news on Rocky Top just yet.

The Vols made the top seven for Andrew Chamblee, who is listed as an offensive tackle across all recruiting services. Standing at 6’6″ and somewhere between 284 and 295 pounds, Chamblee, who comes out of Maumelle High School in Maumelle, Ark., is listed as a three-star on Rivals but a four-star on 247Sports and ESPN.

In addition to Tennessee football, Chamblee had the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Ole Miss Rebels, the Auburn Tigers, the Florida Gators, the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Michigan State Spartans on his list. He announced the schools Tuesday on Twitter.

Given UT’s release of J’Marion Gooch and the transfer of Wanya Morris after Jeremy Pruitt’s firing, the Vols obviously have a ton of work to do to rebuild their line. The departure of Trey Smith and the fact that Cade Mays, K’Rojhn Calbert and Jerome Carvin could all be gone next year is only makes it worse.

This is probably why an offensive tackle was the only commitment Heupel specifically secured in UT’s 2021 signing class. He picked up a junior college transfer in Jeremiah Crawford on National Signing Day earlier this month.

Obviously, given his rising stock, Chamblee could be another great pickup for the program. However, landing him is going to be extremely difficult. Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman is a rising star after a solid first year there, and as a former offensive lineman, he’ll likely secure the top talent in the state at that position.

Indeed, the Hogs are the unanimous favorite to land him on the Rivals Future Cast and the 247Sports Crystal Ball, and they are the near-unanimous favorite on the Rivals Fan Future Cast. As a result, Tennessee football has a lot of work to do on this front, but simply making the cut for these guys given the state of the program still counts for something.
