Tennessee football: Top 10 QBs still available for 2022
4. Drew Allar
Hometown: Medina, Ohio (Medina High School)
Josh Heupel and Joey Halzle must’ve known Ty Simpson and Sam Horn wouldn’t be joining their squad because the two coaches fired off a couple of notable offers to high school gunslingers around the country in the days that surrounded the unpopular decisions. One of those players to receive a Tennessee fooyball offer was four-star pro-style passer Drew Allar.
At 6’5″ 220 pounds, Allar already possesses the physical requirements that pocket passing demands. The No. 10 pro-style QB in the 2022 class, Allar thew for nearly 3,000 yards and 26 touchdowns in 2020, including a regional semifinal performance where he threw 427 yards and four touchdowns in the first half of a playoff victory.
Speaking of prospects that will likely generate steam in the future, Allar is gaining momentum right now. Last week, he was offered by Brian Kelly and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, earned an invitation to the Under Armor All-American game and picked up his offer from UT.
Notable SEC foes such as South Carolina, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Texas A&M are among his list of 23 offers. With a strong arm and an ability to extend plays with his eyes downfield, Allar is a player that Heupel could prioritize now with Simpson and Horn off the table. Look for the quarterback whisperer to do just that.
