Tennessee football: Top 10 QBs still available for 2022
3. Tayven Jackson
Hometown: Greenwood, Ind. (Center Grove High School)
Another young quarterback that is garnering interest from some of college football’s most notable programs is Tayven Jackson. Listed as the No. 379 overall player and the No. 17 pro-style passer in the cycle, Jackson was offered by the Heupel staff on Feb. 28.
Like Drew Allar, Jackson appears to be one of the trending young quarterbacks of 2022 right now. The 6’5″ 185-pound signal-caller has picked up 16 power five offers since the new year began, with Tennessee football, Florida and Texas A&M being among those hopeful programs.
As a junior in 2020, Jackson averaged 125 yards in the air per game while tacking on 17 touchdowns. Under center, he led the Center Grove Trojans to a perfect 14-0 season and capped it all off with an Indiana Class 6A state title at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. MaxPreps named his Trojans squad as the best high school football team in all of Indiana in 2020.
Jackson is keen at finding open receivers, comfortable under pressure and makes careful decisions with the ball in his hands. A player with his talent level and room to grow – literally – would flourish in Heupel’s shiny SEC offense. Add his name to the list of prospects whose offer lists will likely grow in the near future.
