Since the conclusion of his senior season, Josh Palmer has been on the radar of any and all NFL scouts searching for a new wide receiver. Palmer, who participated in the Reese’s Senior Bowl in January, was pegged as a day-two talent then and appears to be on that track after another strong outing at yesterday’s combine-like event.

Here’s what Palmer had to say about what he enjoyed most from the Reese’s Senior Bowl earlier this year.

"“Just definitely being able to go and compete against the best players in the country. There were a lot of great guys down there and it definitely was a great experience for me to get my feet wet with an NFL offense. So, just being able to show that I can grasp plays and concepts and schemes.”"

The attention he demanded from his performance in Mobile, Ala. proved to be no fluke at UT’s Pro Day. Palmer, who caught for over 1,500 yards and hauled in seven touchdowns over four seasons in Knoxville, ran a 4.51 40-yard dash and reached a 34.0 vertical leap.

Some of what made Palmer so special during his time on Rocky Top was the profound catch radius he possesses for a 6’1″ 210-pound receiver. Receiving passes from former Tennessee football QB Quinten Dormady, Palmer demonstrated his athleticism in front of scouts from the New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, and yes, the Tennessee Titans.

Wide receivers’ value in the NFL Draft is constantly changing. Make no mistake, though,Palmer is expected to be drafted somewhere in rounds 2-4 come draft day. His ability to be a potential deep threat is too great to pass up.
