Offensive grades part II
Wide receivers: A+
Jack Jancek, a walk-on stood out with two catches for 137 yards and a touchdown, but Velus Jones Jr. was probably the most impressive with three catches for 86 yards and a touchdown against more significant competition. Cedric Tillman had five catches for 67 yards and a touchdown. Ramel Keyton, Andison Coby, Jimmy Calloway and Jalin Hyatt all had in the range of 30 to 60 yards.
Tight ends: A
While the wide receivers made all the big plays for Tennessee football, the tight ends were key too. They blocked well, and Hunter Salmon had a touchdown reception. Princeton Fant, meanwhile, had four catches for 56 yards, and Miles Campbell had an 18-yard catch. They made this passing game complete.
Offensive line: A
The coaches ran lots of different rotations on the offensive line, but there were no issues. Although the passing game was dominant, it helped that there was only one team sack in the game. There were also 248 team rushing yards in the game on 52 carries, averaging between four and a half and five yards a carry. This unit performed very well.
Overall offensive grade: A
Yes, we went straight down the line and just gave A’s in this one. In a shortened game, the Orange had 433 yards, and the White had 388 yards. Add in a 42-37 score with only one score coming from the defense, and it’s safe to say a shootout means the offense played well.
