Tennessee Vols morning report: Baseball wins final midweek game of 2021

Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Vols continuing to add new talent has made news throughout this month. After adding a commitment from Florida offensive lineman Brian Grant Monday for their 2022 class, the football program added another transfer in defensive back Kamal Hadden from the Auburn Tigers on Tuesday. However, spring sports in play are still dominating coverage as well.

Our morning update on Rocky Top leads with the one spring sport that is still in the midst of the regular season. Baseball had another event Tuesday, the final one of its type this year, that we are going to recap. In some ways, it was a rebound from the heartbreak of this past weekend.

Beyond baseball, we’ve got continuing coverage of the men’s golf NCAA Regionals, and we’ve got an update on where the rowing program is headed in terms of postseason play. After beating the Arizona Wildcats Monday, the men’s tennis team still has another day to go before the NCAA Quarterfinals, which we’ll touch on tomorrow. Let’s start today on the diamond.

Baseball defeats Belmont in final midweek gameWes Rucker, GoVols247

Ahead of their final regular season series this weekend, the Tennessee Vols baseball team rebounded from losing two of three to the Arkansas Razorbacks last weekend by defeating the Belmont Bruins 11-2 Tuesday. Sophomore outfielder Jordan Beck was the star of the game.

"Beck hit two long home runs and had six RBI to power the Vols to an 11-2 win over Belmont on a pleasant Tuesday evening at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.Tennessee (40-13) was a bit sluggish out of the gates against Belmont (20-29) but quickly rebounded to get the week started with a comfortable win before heading to South Carolina for a big three-game, regular-season-ending series in Columbia."

Men’s golf enters final round of NCAA Regionals in second – Dan Harralson, VolsWire

With three individual players at par or under and two in the top 10, the Tennessee Vols men’s golf team enters the final round of the Noblesville NCAA Regional in Indiana seven strokes behind the Texas Longhorns for first place. At eight-under, they enter with a 14-stroke cushion in terms of where they need to be to advance.

"The top five teams in the Noblesville Regional following Wednesday’s third and final round advances to the NCAA Championships. The national championships will be played May 28-June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona."

Rowing makes NCAA Championship – UTSports

Ranked No. 14 in the nation and on the heels of a top three Big 12 Championship finish, the Tennessee Lady Vols rowing team is heading to Florida as one of 12 at-large qualifiers to the NCAA Rowing Championships. There will be 22 competitors in the championships overall, which will take place at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla. from May 28 to May 30.

"Tennessee will be making its ninth overall and fifth full-team appearance at the NCAA Championships. It will mark the Lady Vols’ first NCAA appearance since 2010 when the team finished 16th."
