By nature of what was happening to Tennessee football at inside linebacker this past spring, Solon Page III was going to be a winner just by showing up. We already mentioned Martavius French’s transfer. During spring ball, he was just suspended indefinitely due to an incident that also resulted in highly touted linebacker Aaron Willis being suspended.

Aaron Beasley was suspended as well, and everybody knows about all the transfers from the inside, including Henry To’o To’o, Quavaris Crouch and J.J. Peterson. All three were just in the portal at the time, but To’o To’o has landed with the Alabama Crimson Tide, and Crouch has landed with the Michigan State Spartans.

Taking all that into account, the graduate of Kell High School in Georgia’s Cobb County was easily the most experienced linebacker on the team. In his press conference discussing the linebacker progress leading up to the spring game, inside linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary referred to Page as a leader and the glue holding the glue together.

Page came away with just two and a half tackles in the Orange and White game itself, and the arrivals of Texas Longhorns transfer Juwan Mitchell and Michigan Wolverines transfer William Mohan along with Willis’ reinstatement give him more competition. However, Page has a lot of experience and should be able to hold his own. The spring seems to have proven that.
