Droughts on the baseball diamond continue to come to an end for the Tennessee Vols program, and another huge one happened this weekend. It’s helping to make for a heavy amount of news into the second week of June.

Our morning update on Rocky Top leads with the baseball program advancing in the NCAA Tournament after a thrilling weekend of regionals. We’ll break down who UT beat and who they are set to play next. Speaking of playing teams next, a scheduling update involving the women’s basketball program also made news over the weekend.

Three straight wins propels baseball to Super Regionals – Wes Rucker, GoVols247

It started with a walk-off grand slam to beat the Wright State Raiders Friday. Then the Tennessee Vols baseball team beat the Liberty Flames twice to go 3-0 in the Knoxville Regional of the NCAA Baseball Tournament this past weekend. They now advance to the Super Regionals after a 3-1 win over Liberty Sunday.

"After dispatching Liberty (41-16), Tennessee (48-16) almost certainly will host Oregon or LSU in a best-of-three series next weekend in Knoxville with a ticket to the College World Series at stake. An NCAA record-setting weekend for home runs in a regional didn’t seem likely to produce a low-scoring championship round, but that’s what Tennessee and Liberty produced."
