Tennessee football lands commitment from elite 2022 Memphis WR Cameron Miller
Things continue to heat up on the recruiting trail for Tennessee football’s 2022 class. The Vols and Josh Heupel have now added a fifth pickup in just this month alone and a third in less than a week. This time, they stayed in-state for their commitment.
Rocky Top added wide receiver Cameron Miller, a four-star on Rivals and 247Sports Composite and a three-star on 247Sports. Coming out of Memphis Academy in Shelby County, Tenn., Miller stands between 6’1″ and 6’2″ and weighs in the range of 195 to 205 pounds.
With the addition of Miller, Tennessee football now has two in-state commitments and three commitments receiving a four-star rating on at least one service. Miller announced his commitment to the Vols with a video Monday afternoon on Twitter.
Given the commitment of four-star quarterback Tayven Jackson out of Indiana, Heupel may be putting together the key weapons for his offense in a couple of years. A Jackson-Miller duo could be the future of Big Orange Country, although an elite running back commit would help too.
Memphis is always a key recruiting location for UT as well, and Heupel needs to make sure he keeps locking that area up. Elite defensive tackle Walter Nolen is also from that area, so the Vols shouldn’t be done recruiting that part of the state either.
When it comes to Miller, Heupel has his first pickup of a guy who could truly play wideout and not just in the slot, even if that’s where he starts off. The Vols could have a true go-to target on the outside in the future with him. Here is a look at his highlight reel.
As you can see, Miller has great athletic ability and can make incredibly impressive catches. Most of his highlights were in one-on-one coverage, so he’ll have more to prove at the next level, but he has certainly proven he’s got talent.
Miller is the second wide receiver to commit to UT within the past week, joining three-star Marquarius White, who committed on July 8. With three-star tight end Brody Foley having committed in May, Tennessee football is really piecing together its future passing attack.
