Tennessee football makes another cut for elite 2022 Georgia OL Addison Nichols
Recently, Josh Heupel has really been stacking up the trenches for Tennessee football on the recruiting trail. He’s now one step closer to adding an elite prospect out of Georgia in the 2022 class up front.
The Vols made the top three for Norcross, Ga. offensive lineman Addison Nichols. A four-star across all services out of Greater Atlanta Christian School in Gwinnett County, Nichols stands at 6’5″ and weighs in the range of 300 to 318 pounds.
This cut comes two and a half months after he trimmed his list to five schools. He has eliminated the USC Trojans, Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs from that list while adding the North Carolina Tar Heels. Joining Tennessee football and UNC on the list are the Ohio State Buckeyes. The schools were announced Wednesday afternoon on Twitter.
Obviously, offensive line is going to be a huge future need for the Vols. After all, they lost a rising star in Wanya Morris this past year along with Jahmir Johnson to transfer. Trey Smith and Brandon Kennedy are gone, and Cade Mays, Jerome Carvin and Riley Locklear will all probably be gone after the 2021 season.
So far, Heupel already has three commitments on the line in Brian Grant, Masai Reddick and Maurice Clipper, and Reddick and Clipper both committed this month. However, Nichols would be the best pickup of all of them.
Versatility is a big advantage Nichols brings along with his size. He is listed as an offensive tackle on Rivals and ESPN but an interior lineman on 247Sports, so his ability to play numerous spots on the line would make him immediately valuable.
Currently, Tennessee football is the unanimous favorite on the Rivals Future Cast and the 247Sports Crystal Ball to land Nichols, and they are the majority favorite on the Rivals Fan Future Cast. As a result, they should be in good shape, but they can’t take anything for granted.
