Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 839. Senior. Aubrey Solomon. 6. player. Defensive lineman

6’5″ 325 pounds; Hometown: Leesburg, Ga.

We’re back to the defensive line, and in particular one defensive lineman who is now in a better position to thrive. Aubrey Solomon is one of two tested and true defensive tackles still on the roster, the other being Kurrott Garland, after the transfers of Greg Emerson and Darel Middleton. As a result, he’ll be Tennessee football’s feature defensive tackle this year.

With the switch back to a 4-3 base defense under Tim Banks, the graduate of Lee County High School in Georgia who transferred from the Michigan Wolverines back in 2019 will have a chance to stand out and make more plays. That alone will help the former five-star in bursting onto the scene as an elite NFL Draft prospect.

Even in the 3-4, Solomon had four tackles for a loss, two sacks, a fumble recovery and 28 tackles in 2019, 10 of which were solo. Last year, he played in the middle more, so his production dropped to just 17 tackles, seven of which were solo, and he had to split time.

Since playing in the middle doesn’t hurt your stats in the 4-3 and he will have more minutes to himself, Solomon will likely thrive with the Vols this year. His size makes him a really imposing force in the middle, and he’ll likely leap of the screen for lots of people.
