Matt Corral. Scouting Report. 6. player. 841. Pick Analysis. Quarterback. Ole Miss Rebels

Junior’ 6’2″ 205 pounds

Speaking of people formerly involved with Tennessee football, the Vols once again have to face Lane Kiffin. This time, though, unlike 2014 through 2016, they will face him as the head coach of another program. When Kiffin travels to Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, that will be a first for him since he left Rocky Top at the end of the 2009 season.

Kiffin is known as a quarterback guru, and Matt Corral is a big reason that the Ole Miss Rebels enter the 2021 season with lots of optimism. With all the best quarterbacks from last year’s SEC season gone to the NFL, Corral is the best among the returners. There’s a reason he earned first-team All-SEC for the preseason.

Last year, Corral was incredible, completing 231 of 326 passes (70.9 percent) for 3,337 yards (10.2 yards per attempt) and 29 touchdowns. Meanwhile, he had 112 carries for 506 yards (4.5 yards per carry) and four more touchdowns. His 14 interceptions were a problem, but it was his first year starting, and he was learning a new system.

Overall, Corral is a dual-threat, an elite producer and a nightmare for defenses. He’s also got a brilliant offensive mind coaching him. Given UT’s expected defensive woes this year, Corral is a guy they won’t want to face. There’s a reason many people expect Ole Miss to beat the Vols.
