Alabama Crimson Tide. John Metchie III. 4. 829. Pick Analysis. Wide receiver. player. Scouting Report

Junior; 6’0″ 195 pounds

Remember when we said we weren’t going to name Jahleel Billingsley on this list because of the other elite Alabama Crimson Tide weapons Tennessee football will have to account for? Well, John Metchie III is one of those names. In fact, Metchie is a guy the Vols are already all too familiar with, and they will likely have to deal with hi again.

Last year, Metchie had one of his breakout games against UT. Jaylen Waddle suffered his regular season-ending injury early on against the Vols, and Metchie came in and dominated. He caught seven passes for 151 yards and was impossible to guard.

For the year, Metchie was second on the team in receiving with 55 catches for 916 yards and six touchdowns. With Waddle and DeVonta Smith both now in the NFL, Metchie is about to be the go-to receiver for Nick Saban’s program.

Given what he did last year, the fact that he will see more action this year and all the questions surrounding the Vols’ defense, Josh Heupel could be in for a rude awakening when he goes up against Metchie. Mac Jones may not be back there, but it’s not going to matter. Metchie will dominate regardless of who is throwing him the ball, and UT will just have to deal with it.
