Sophomore. 9. player. 839. Edge rusher. Tyler Baron. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

6’5″ 260 pounds; Hometown: Knoxville, Tenn.

Sticking with edge rushers, Tyler Baron’s potential for postseason recognition also depends on the scheme Tim Banks decides to run. However, Baron’s size will allow him more chances to rack up stats for Tennessee football, regardless of whether or not Banks runs a 3-4, 4-3, or, as we predict, a 4-3 base that is nickel-heavy.

Last year, in limited action like Harrison, the graduate of Knox County’s Knoxville Catholic High School came away with three tackles for a loss, a sack and 21 overall tackles, 13 of which were solo. Imagine what he will do this year with the other edge rushers gone.

Baron is likely to play more on the line no matter what, but his ability to make an impact as either an outside linebacker, weakside defensive end or strongside defensive end can’t be overstated. He’s on this list mostly due to talent, as his potential is through the roof.

Before Deandre Johnson and Kivon Bennett last year, Darrell Taylor earned national attention as an edge rusher. Things won’t be the same for such players as they were under Jeremy Pruitt, but for a guy like Baron, it doesn’t matter. He’s perfectly positioned to be a superstar and wreak havoc in backfields, and that’ll get him more famous.
