That’s how you beat a MAC team. We’ve spent this entire post explaining why different games against programs from that conference, including Tennessee football’s against the Bowling Green Falcons, went the way they did. However, the Auburn Tigers made sure no explanation for such a game would be needed.

In the program’s first game under Bryan Harsin, Auburn was historically dominant. The Tigers had over 600 yards of offense, including Bo Nix having one of the greatest games ever. He completed 20 of 22 (90.9 percent) passes for 275 yards (12.5 yards per attempt, three touchdowns and no interceptions, and he added 32 yards on the ground.

Speaking of the ground, Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter both went over 100 yards and combined for three touchdowns. The defense could have been a bit better, allowing over 200 yards, but by and large, this was an incredible performance, and Auburn looks like the one team early on whose new head coach brought excitement to the offense.

Up next: Alabama State Hornets

Although they had a great first week and the best of any SEC school against Group of Five programs, Auburn likely has no shot at moving up our SEC Power Rankings this week. After all, they are facing an FCS program. However, at least they should put on another show.
