Last week: Defeated Louisville Cardinals 43-24

No Lane Kiffin? No problem. The former Tennessee football head coach for one year had to miss his team’s opener in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic Monday night due to COVID, but his Ole Miss Rebels still dominated the night in Atlanta. In the process, they scored a dominant win over a Power Five program that makes them look like a more obvious loss for Tennessee football.

Ole Miss’ offense under Jeff Lebby was as great as you’d expect it to be. The Rebels had 569 yards of total offense, and Matt Corral may have begun a Heisman campaign, completing 22-of-32 passes (68.8 percent) for 381 yards (11.9 yards per attempt) along with 12 carries for 55 yards while scoring two touchdowns and throwing no picks.

Dontario Drummond looks like he’ll become a breakout superstar as well with nine catches for 77 yards and a touchdown, and then there’s the defense, which pitched a first-half shutout and only allowed 24 points because it called off the dogs late. Simply put, this group was dominant and belongs in the top three of our SEC Power Rankings.

Up next: Austin Peay Governors

After blowing out a Power Five foe when most teams wouldn’t face them, Ole Miss deserves a week off. They basically get that with the Austin Peay Governors coming to town, and it’s why there’s pretty much nothing they can do to move up this week.
