Austin Peay Governors at No. 20 Ole Miss Rebels (ESPN+/SECN+)

Saturday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. ET; Vaught-Hemingway Stadium; Oxford, Miss.

Lane Kiffin had to miss last week’s game due to COVID, and the Ole Miss Rebels still covered against the Louisville Cardinals. That almost makes us label them a circled loss for Tennessee football instead of a likely loss. Their dominance was on clear display.

Coming off a 43-24 win, what stood out the most was their defense. The first team actually shut down Louisville in the first half, and while there isn’t a lot of depth on that side of the ball, there’s enough for the high-powered offense to get a big lead. This week, they actually get to rest that defense more as the Austin Peay Governors come to town.

APSU looks like a solid FCS program on the rise under Scotty Walden. He went 4-5 last year, his first year, and just scored a big win over the Chattanooga Mocs to get his team to No. 17 nationally in that division. Ole Miss will be a great test for his program to truly prove it has taken another step forward.

Prediction

There’s no betting line for this game, and that’s a shame because it’s one that would be intriguing given Austin Peay’s talent. However, Ole Miss is too good. The Rebels will dominate this game from start to finish and never be truly threatened.
