840. . 2-0. Previous: . Gators . 8. team

Last week: Defeated South Florida Bulls 42-20

Back to back three-touchdown wins over Group of Five schools in the state of Florida are just enough to have the Florida Gators at No. 8 in our SEC Power Rankings. They didn’t dominate either team, and they haven’t beaten a Power Five opponent, which is what puts them in the bottom half of our SEC Power Rankings for now.

However, Dan Mullen’s kids are still dealing with replacing Kyle Trask and Kyle Pitts, and they are one of six teams in the SEC to have two wins over FBS programs. As a result, they have plenty of reason to feel good right now.

Of course, the similarities between how they beat the Florida Atlantic Owls and South Florida Bulls is striking. Just add a touchdown to both teams from FAU to USF, and you’ve almost got the same score. In this case, though, UF scored a road win, which also counts for something.

Now, though, things are about to get exciting for the program. They get to host the top-rated Alabama Crimson Tide this week to really prove themselves. With Tennessee football right after that, they don’t really have anything to look ahead to. This will give us an idea as to just how elite the program is at this moment.
