Last week: Defeated Colorado Buffaloes 10-7

Hey, they’re 2-0 with a win over a Power Five team. Only half the league can say that at this moment, and it’s why the Texas A&M Aggies are in the top half of our SEC Power Rankings. At the same time, though, that’s all they can say, and they have a lot to prove going forward. A&M needed a touchdown with less than three minutes to go to take a 10-7 lead over Colorado.

To be fair, the defense played lights out all day, and that’s a great sign for them going forward. We should also note that a team from Texas heading to Colorado may not be used to the thin air, which is why this site didn’t take A&M to cover.

Last year, Jimbo Fisher’s team was night and day from the start of the regular season against the Vanderbilt Commodores and the end of the regular season against Tennessee football. That was likely going to be a bigger issue this year with Kellen Mond gone.

Taking all that into account, the Aggies should be fine. With a home game this week against the New Mexico Lobos, they have another chance to really fine-tune their skills before SEC play begins. They’re in the middle of the pack now in our power rankings, but they’ll have plenty of chances to move up soon enough.
