Tulane Green Wave at No. 17 Ole Miss Rebels (ESPN2)

Saturday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. ET; Vaught-Hemingway Stadium; Oxford, Miss.

Line: Ole Miss -14; Over/Under: 76

Moneyline: Ole Miss -610; Tulane +440

After blowing out the Louisville Cardinals, Lane Kiffin’s kids got a breather against the Austin Peay Governors. They dominated that game as well, and the Ole Miss Rebels are now in the top 20. Things are looking good for them.

On the other side, though, the Tulane Green Wave look to be rolling under Willie Fritz. They came extremely close to beating the Oklahoma Sooners in their opener and then crushed Morgan State 69-20 last week. This team is dangerous and could easily pull off an upset.

An interesting connection here is the Manning family, which is known for New Orleans, where Tulane is, and Ole Miss, except for Peyton Manning, the greatest of the bunch, choosing Tennessee football. This is also an old-school SEC rivalry, one that was huge before Tulane left in 1966.

Prediction

Bet on the points. Tulane had 35 and 69 points. Ole Miss had 43 against the Louisville Cardinals and had 54 against Austin Peay despite sluggish play. As for the spread, this is an overreaction to Tulane’s red-hot comeback against OU. They won’t catch Ole Miss napping, so the Rebels win and cover in a shootout.

Ole Miss: 52 Tulane: 27 (Ole Miss -14; Over 76)
