Tennessee football: Week 3 SEC and top 25 picks and bets
No. 19 Arizona State Sun Devils at No. 23 BYU Cougars
Saturday, Sept. 18 at 10:15 p.m. ET; LaVell Edwards Stadium; Provo, Utah
Line: Arizona State -3.5; Over/Under: 51
Moneyline: Arizona State -180; BYU +150
Our one non-SEC game is one that could be a thriller out west. It’s a clash of styles. The Arizona State Sun Devils are rolling under Herm Edwards. They have kicked off the season with two dominant wins over Southern Utah and the UNLV Rebels.
On the other side, the BYU Cougars are off to an even better start, beating two Power Five programs and scoring a huge rivalry win over the Utah Utes last week. Utah was in the top 25, and that game was on the road.
Now, BYU has a second straight game against a top 25 team. There is reason to be cautious about them, but they don’t appear to have missed a beat without Zach Wilson. Tennessee football fans know how dangerous BYU is to Power Five teams.
Prediction
BYU is tested and proven, and they are playing this game at home. There’s way too much value on Wilson with last year’s 11-1 team and not enough on BYU as a program. Playing this game at home, take them on the spread. Both teams like ball control, so the game will hit the under, but the Cougars will pull off the upset and become state champions of Arizona.
BYU: 20 Arizona: 14 (BYU +3.5; Under 51)
