Tennessee football: Week 3 SEC and top 25 picks and bets
Chattanooga Mocs at Kentucky Wildcats (ESPN+/SECN+)
Saturday, Sept. 18 at Noon ET; Kroger Field; Lexington, Ky.
After facing Mizzou last week, the Kentucky Wildcats join them in an FCS matchup this week. Mark Stoops’ team is obviously in great shape going forward after that win, and they get to enjoy this game now. What really stands out about UK is the fact that they have an offense, and that makes them scary going forward.
On the other side of the ball, the Chattanooga Mocs are an okay FCS team. They lost their opener to the Austin Peay Governors but shutout the North Alabama Lions in their second game. Both outings saw them score 20 points. They just surrendered 30 in one of them.
UK’s slate gradually increases in toughness over the next three weeks, going from Chattanooga to the South Carolina Gamecocks to the Florida Gators. They have to be careful not to look ahead of this one, though.
Prediction
Last week’s win solidified the Wildcats as a likely loss for Tennessee football. They are a sure loss for Chattanooga. Stoops’ defense will shut this team down from the start. They’ll pitch a shutout and win easily.
