Georgia Southern Eagles at No. 20 Arkansas Razorbacks (SECN)
Saturday, Sept. 18 at 4 p.m. ET; Razorback Stadium; Fayetteville, Ark.
Line: Arkansas -23.5; Over/Under: 52.5
Moneyline: Arkansas -2300; Georgia Southern +1200
Talk about a program-defining win. We’ve written for nearly a year now how the Arkansas Razorbacks were becoming the dominant, physical program under Sam Pittman that Tennessee football wanted to become under Jeremy Pruitt. A 40-21 win over the Texas Longhorns certainly proves that.
Now, the Hogs are back playing Group of Five teams. They get to host a Georgia Southern Golden Eagles team looking to regroup after a 38-6 loss to Florida Atlantic last week. That was certainly disastrous, but maybe they were looking ahead to this game? It’s possible. On the other hand, their 30-25 win over the Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs in the opener suggests big issues.
Prediction
Arkansas will define its season by what it does against Texas A&M next week, a team it’s desperately trying to beat after years of frustration. With that game next week, they could be overlooking this one. It won’t matter. Georgia Southern has too many issues. Take the Hogs in a blowout. They’ll cover easily. The game won’t hit the over because Georgia Southern won’t score.
