Tennessee football: Week 3 SEC and top 25 picks and bets
Central Michigan Chippewas at LSU Tigers (SECN)
Saturday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. ET; Tiger Stadium; Baton Rouge, La.
Line: LSU -19; Over/Under: 60.5
Moneyline: LSU -1100; Central Michigan +710
Currently on the hot seat after losing his opener to the UCLA Bruins, Ed Orgeron didn’t do himself any favors last week. His team struggled with the McNeese State Cowboys in a 34-7 win, and they are still looking for their first victory over an FBS team.
On the other side, the Central Michigan Chippewas gave Mizzou a fight in their opener. They rebounded to dominate Robert Morris 45-0 last week. Now, Jim McElwain is back on the sideline, and that could be a huge deal.
With LSU struggling and CMU being a solid MAC program, you could easily see an upset. Don’t forget 2016, the day Tennessee football fans realized they wouldn’t win the East. McElwain’s Gators upset Orgeron’s Tigers late in the year.
Prediction
This is another spread I’d stay away from. However, since we have to pick it, I’m going with LSU to cover. Orgeron needs a big performance, and he’ll get it here. The Tigers will also play enough defense to make sure the game doesn’t hit the over.
LSU: 38 Central Michigan: 14 (LSU -19; Under 60.5)
