Tennessee football photo gallery from Vols’ 56-0 win vs. Tennessee Tech
There’s nothing special about blowing out the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles. However, Tennessee football still managed to make its second win of the season memorable in many ways. That was important, as they needed a rebound from last week’s loss to the Pittsburgh Panthers last week, and we don’t know when their next win will come with SEC play about to start.
From pregame interactions with fans to certain players making big plays in the game, there were lots of feel-good stories in this matchup. Sure, they came against an FCS team, but so what? This is one of the 12 sure opportunities the Vols had to play football, and they took advantage of it.
In the process, Rocky Top improved to 2-1 and at least hasn’t fallen below .500 for now in Josh Heupel’s first season on the job. Hey, you’ve got to take the positives from somewhere. Let’s look back on some of the moments that made this day, like many other days, special. Here are photos from Tennessee football’s 56-0 blowout victory over TTU.
Solon Page III’s pick-six was the top feel-good moment of the game. However, Alontae Taylor coming away with an interception was another good moment for Vol fans, as was Ja’Quain Blakely coming away with a sack and Theo Jackson making another big play in the game. All of these seniors have waited for their shine, and they got some of it Saturday.
Simply put, everything about this game was enjoyable, even if it was completely meaningless. We have no idea what’s in store for the Vols the rest of the year, so it was nice to just see the whole team have fun winning a game. That hasn’t happened in a while.
As Tennessee football begins SEC play next week, it’ll be another special moment. They get to face the Florida Gators, and while this game doesn’t mean what it once did, there is still an appreciation for the rivalry that once existed. If the Vols can just make this interesting for a period of time, they’ll create a lot of moments fans want to remember.
