Tennessee football’s top five performers in 56-0 win vs. Tennessee Tech
3 tackles; 1 INT; 1 TD
Sometimes the story alone earns the recognition. Solon Page III has been a fixture in Tennessee football’s defense for four years, always there just to provide depth. However, he stayed loyal, and with all the linebacker issues facing the Vols, he earned his way into the rotation this year thanks to his leadership in the spring.
An injury to Juwan Mitchell forced Page to play an even larger role in this game along with Aaron Beasley. Although he had no solo tackles, he did just that, assisting on three of them and helping out wherever he could. That alone was a good story.
However, early in the second half, Page made it an even better story. The game was already broken open, but he turned it into a blowout with a pick-six. That interception came right after the Vols had scored on their first offensive possession of the third quarter to go up 35-0.
Funny enough, Alontae Taylor had an interception on the previous drive to set up that first score of the third, and he almost ran it back, but he just barely stepped out of bounds at midfield. Still, he deserves a shoutout here for doing that. Page actually earns the spot on the list though for running it back, and his story just adds to that.
