Last week: Defeated Georgia Southern Eagles 45-10

Arkansas’ win over the Texas Longhorns is enough to keep them in the top three right now. Texas won its second game this past weekend to move to 2-1, so that looks like a more impressive Power Five win as well. Such a blowout has us putting them in the same tier as the best teams in the league for right now.

Every Sam Pittman success is another reminder of what Tennessee football didn’t do under Jeremy Pruitt. Pittman actually brought in a physical style of play and has succeeded at running it. His team definitely deserves to be in the top 25.

Beating the Georgia Southern Eagles isn’t the most impressive thing, as they still haven’t won an FBS game. The same is true for the Rice Owls right now, as they are 0-3. Simply put, it’s that Texas win that has them here in our SEC Power Rankings.

Up next, though, is the game the Hogs have circled. They’ve tried for years to beat Texas A&M and haven’t had any success. Can this be the year they get over the hump? Even if they do, that’s just the start, as they then have to visit Georgia and Ole Miss before hosting Arkansas, so the gauntlet begins for the program now.
