Tennessee football rises by default in Week 3 SEC Power Rankings
Last week: Lost to Alabama Crimson Tide 31-29
Just like Auburn, Florida has a good loss. Now, their loss was at home, so technically, we could say that Auburn has the better body of work right now. However, it’s also worth noting that Florida has two wins over FBS schools already while Auburn has only one, and Florida also played their Power Five foe a lot closer than Auburn did.
As a result, Florida gets the edge in our SEC Power Rankings. Emory Jones still has some issues at quarterback, but this team put up a fight against the Tide. Looking past the criteria for our power rankings, Dan Mullen’s team has a lot to be excited about from that win.
Florida hasn’t lost anything if you really look at it. They still control their own destiny to win the SEC East, and if they win out and somehow win the SEC Championship, they’ll be going to the College Football Playoff anyway. This loss didn’t really do anything.
Now, the Gators get to get back on track against Tennessee football, the program they have historically owned dating back to 2005. Then they visit Kentucky, host Vanderbilt and visit LSU, so they should easily be 6-1 ahead of their annual showdown with Georgia.
