Tennessee football at Florida: Five best bets
4. Florida -1150 moneyline
Okay, from an odds perspective, this is a horrible bet. Who would place $1,150 down just to win $100? Well, anybody familiar with the history of this series would do that. As we mentioned in the opening slide, Tennessee football has lost 15 of 16 to Florida and four straight, including the last three by double digits, all since Dan Mullen took over.
We also mentioned the fact that the Vols are 0-4 against Mullen, having lost to him by double digits when he was head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Well, they are actually 0-8 against him as a head coach or assistant coach, having lost to Florida every year from 2005 to 2008 when he was the Gators’ offensive coordinator.
Simply put, Mullen has been a huge part of Florida’s dominance over the Vols. For good measure, Josh Heupel is 0-1 against the SEC as a head coach, having lost to Ed Orgeron’s LSU Tigers back in 2018 to ruin his team’s undefeated season.
Florida will win this game. That’s the most obvious statement of the day. The flow of the game may be in question, but there is no reason to think the Vols have a chance. As a result, despite this insane moneyline, it’s worth the bet. You’ll get it back. There’s no risk.
