Tennessee football at Florida: Five best bets
2. 1st quarter over 13.5 points
It’s a bit odd to set the over/under at 64.5 but have the first quarter over/under set at just 13.5 points considering that would lead to just 54 points over four quarters. When you consider the style of play these two teams have, it actually makes even less sense.
Tennessee football has scored 14, 10 and 14 points in the first quarter through its first three games against the Bowling Green Falcons, Pitt and Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles. In fact, the first quarter was the strongest for the Vols’ offense in their opener. It was only when Cooper Mays got hurt did the sluggish play start.
On the other side, Florida scored 14 points in the first quarter of each of its first two games against the Florida Atlantic Owls and South Florida Bulls. Sure, they only hit a field goal in the first quarter against Alabama, but it was a field goal.
Florida is averaging 10 points in the first quarter this year, and the Vols are averaging nearly 13 points. As a result, it’s a pretty safe bet that the Gators and Vols will manage to go over 13.5 points for the first quarter this game in total.
