Tennessee football: Photo gallery from Vols’ 38-14 loss at Florida
For just a brief moment, Tennessee football gave fans some hope. Hey, Josh Heupel is in his first year as head coach, and the Florida Gators just came off of a loss, albeit an impressive 31-29 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Anyway, a solid early showing by the Vols was naturally going to believe that Heupel was the guy who could beat Florida.
That all appeared to be the case when UT took a 14-10 lead in the second quarter. Heck, even when they fell behind 17-14, there was excitement that they could make this a game in the seconds half. That didn’t happen.
Florida scored 21 unanswered in the second half and finished scoring 28 unanswered overall. However, there were certain moments that gave Vol fans some happiness. Let’s look back on that and more with some of the images from the game. This is our photo gallery for Saturday when Tennessee football fell 38-14 to Florida.
Obviously, it was a forgettable second half. That was true last year as well. However, there were certain aspects of the way the game unfolded to give Vol fans hope for the future, even as the fell to 2-2 on the year and 0-2 against Power Five schools. Their SEC opener at The Swamp in Gainesville, Fla. could have gone a heck of a lot worse.
With that solid first-half performance, there’s reason to believe in the Vols as they travel to Columbia, Mo. to take on the Missouri Tigers next week. They still have a path to six wins, which was always the goal Heupel’s first year on Rocky Top anyway.
Once again, Tennessee football lost at Florida. However, it wasn’t a completely wasted trip, and the way they competed is evidenced by these photos. It may not have translated to a win, but it certainly showed the culture Heupel is building on Rocky Top. As a result, the game itself is worth looking back on for Vol fans.
