Junior. Tiyon Evans. player. Scouting Report. Running back. 1. 839. Pick Analysis

11 carries for 50 yards; 3 catches for 71 yards, 1 TD

It looks like Tennessee football has its physical running back. To be fair, Jabari Small had 11 carries for 59 yards and another catch for 22 yards, so he played well too. However, many of Small’s big games came on misdirections or draw plays that caught the defense off-guard.

Tiyon Evans, on the other hand, gained most of his yards running right up the middle on plays Florida knew was coming. He was able to do that despite Cooper Mays being banged up, which created a lot of issues when it came to interior blocking. Heck, the Vols looked like the Tennessee Titans’ fourth-quarter offense with Derrick Henry at times.

Doing that alone would have been enough to earn Evans some recognition. However, he made the big plays that came with it. In the first quarter, with the Vols trailing 7-0 and facing 3rd and 8 just past midfield, Josh Heupel called a perfectly timed screen pass. Evans caught it and took it to the house for a 47-yard touchdown.

In the second half, Hooker hit Evans for a key seven-yard pass that brought up a 4th and 5 that should have been converted. He had a meaningless 17-yard catch at the end of the game as well, but him making that big play for Tennessee football while also running hard all night with no turnovers makes him easily the player of the game.
