Last week: Defeated Tennessee Volunteers 38-14

Like Texas A&M, Florida is a 3-1 team with a win over a Power Five foe, as they just blew out Tennessee football. Also like Texas A&M, their loss is to one of the undefeated teams remaining. Their loss is to a higher-ranked team than the Aggies’ in our SEC Power Rankings, and their win is over an SEC team, while A&M’s is against a Pac-12 foe, so we can’t compare those.

What then, puts Florida ahead of Kentucky and A&M behind them? Well, the Gators played closer in their loss, and they looked better in their Power Five win. Margin of victory was enough for us to put them ahead of UK right now, who’s got a lot to prove.

Dan Mullen’s team doesn’t have to worry about this right now, though. They are in control of their own destiny and have the most dominant rushing attack in the nation. Playing Alabama close proved itself to give this team the confidence it needs to navigate the rest of SEC play.

Part of that includes another chance to prove themselves this week as they host Kentucky, where we’ll find out once and for all who belongs ahead of whom. Then they host Vanderbilt and visit LSU, so assuming they do what they should do, they’ll be 6-1 heading into their showdown with Georgia to end October.
