Last week: Did not play

The success of the Louisville Cardinals, moving to 3-1 last weekend with their win over the Florida State Seminoles, is what’s really helping Ole Miss look good here. Lane Kiffin’s team dominated a Power Five foe, and they also absolutely destroyed their other FBS foe this year, the Tulane Green Wave. Even with Tulane’s loss last week, remember the scare they gave the Oklahoma Sooners.

Kiffin’s offense is something to behold. It’s a reminder of what Tennessee football could have had with him, and they will continue to be fun to watch all year with Matt Corral running the show. The only concern is if their bye came too early.

Anyway, right now, Ole Miss is in last place among the top-tier teams in our SEC Power Rankings. Not playing last week hurt them, as they didn’t get a chance to add a third FBS win to their resume. With one of their wins coming against an FCS team, they still have more to prove.

This week brings the chance for them to prove those things, as over the next two weeks, they will face two of the teams in this tier along with them. They’ll truly know where they stand when they get set to visit Tennessee football on Oct. 16. Their first top-tier matchup, this Saturday, will come against the next team in our SEC Power Rankings.
