Tennessee football falls back down in Week 4 SEC Power Rankings
Last week: Lost to Kentucky Wildcats 16-10
Okay, so South Carolina’s two wins are against a 1-4 FCS program, the Eastern Illinois Panthers, and then a field goal win over the East Carolina Pirates. However, both of their losses are to undefeated teams right now. People may be questioning Kentucky, but UK was in that game, and nobody is questioning Georgia right now.
Given the fact that Tennessee football’s two losses, albeit to Power Five schools, are both to schools with losses on their own, it makes sense for USC to be above them. They also don’t have a Group of Five loss, which puts them above Mississippi State, although that could go either way.
Frank Beamer’s team hasn’t shown much offensively yet this year, but this is a rebuilding program for a reason. If we have to project right now, the Gamecocks will likely fall in our SEC Power Rankings before the year ends. They can prove us wrong, though.
The chance to prove us wrong comes over their next three games. They get the Troy Trojans at home this week and then visit Tennessee football before hosting Vanderbilt. UT is the only non-likely win for them, but that game isn’t completely unwinnable, so they could get to 5-2 and build some momentum. Watch out for them over the next three weeks.
